The Kelso Dunes

 

 

This may look like a montain range, but it is, in fact, an immense pile of sand. The Kelso Dunes are about 650 feet high, have been forming over the last 25,000 years and are particularly noted for their "singing." Slipping sand makes a rumbling booming sound on dry days (which this day wasn't, folks – the desert gets mighty cold in the winter.)
